Extra Long Turbine Blade by Alstom

Alstom has introduced a 75 inch (190.5 cm) last-stage blade for use in the steam turbines of nuclear power plants.

The new blade, the LP75, is the world’s longest, six inches longer than the current largest blade at the Oskarshamn plant in Sweden.

Alston touts the longer blade as reducing exhaust losses and increasing efficiency.
