The SME Education Foundation provided a grant to a group of institutions including U-M College of Engineering. The purpose of the funds was to help a group of public school students compete in the 2013 FIRST Robotics Competition. This group, the Michigan Engineering Zone, provides these students a healthy environment and the facilities to produce robots for the upcoming competition. It also provides them with mentorship for possible careers in engineering and robotics.
