A reactor at a Pennsylvania nuclear power plant was shut down safely on October 20 for purposes of an inspection.
Unit 1 at PPL’s Susquehanna plant was shut down for an inspection of its turbine blades.
The shut down and inspection are part of a plan to study and resolve turbine blade cracking, a problem discovered in 2011.
