US and Canada Approve Cochlear Americas’ New Bone Conduction Implant

Cochlear Americas has developed a new bone conduction implant technology that requires less invasive surgery.

Its new implant causes less soft tissue damage than current methods. As a result post surgery recovery is significantly less, and the skin around the implant is less likely to be irritated, giving the patient more comfort.

The US and Canada have approved the BIA400 implant, and will widely make it available in all markets by 2013.
