World’s Smallest Heart Pump Now Saving Lives in the U.S.

The Impella heart pump, the world’s smallest,  just received clearance for use in the United States last month, and already makes a difference in people’s lives.

U.S. doctors on the West Coast implanted it for the first time in Las Vegas to help a seventy-year-old man survive a risky heart procedure.

The Impella heart pump does not require surgery to use, which makes the procedure simpler, less invasive and much less risky.
