Enhanced fuel efficiency, greater thrusting power and improved durability are among the advantages of General Electric’s most advanced jumbo jet engines to date, says GE general manager Chuck Nugent.
Nugent, who heads up the unit responsible for production of the GEnx-1Bs engines, explains that testing supports GE’s claims, and that results will be even better with the recently approved “PIP-I” enhancement package, and the latest “PIP-II” improvements, set for FAA-certification by year’s end.
Consequently, GE is seeing increased orders by Boeing 787 operators, and is ramping up production.
