The ninth turbine at the Wanapum Dam is online and operating normally.
In 2004 Grant County PUD began modernizing the dam to improve power production and overall efficiency.The utility company estimates the total project will cost over $300 million.
The new blades in the turbines are more efficient and have a design to limit fish-kill from fish swimming into the blades.
