New scanning technology originally intended to be used for engineering is now being used to scan ancient Roman coins and other artifacts.
At Southampton’s µ-VIS Centre for Computed Tomography, incredible 3D images are created using their advanced scanning machine which takes hundreds of 2D pictures 360 degrees around the artifacts, rendering the old painstaking excavating and cleaning methods unnecessary.
